According to plans announced by Fangda Xu at the Changi Aviation Summit on the eve of the Singapore Air Show, the country aims to achieve a 1% SAF target from 2026 and plans to increase it to 3-5% by 2030, depending on Global developments and wider availability and adoption of SAF.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore said: "The use of SAF is a key way to decarbonize aviation and is expected to contribute approximately 65% of the carbon emission reductions required to achieve net zero emissions by 2050."
SAF can be made through synthetic processes or from biological materials such as waste cooking oil or wood chips. SAF currently accounts for 0.2% of the aviation fuel market.
